Brandon Ferguson...

...was born on April 14, 1981, and left us way too early on November 21, 2006. Brandon courageously battled cancer, drawing strength from faith in his God and a positive attitude. He inspired us all since his initial diagnosis in 2003. Although our hearts break to say good-bye to one of the brightest lights in our world, we give thanks for the honor and privilege of knowing him, for the joy he brought to our lives, and for his example of grace and dignity in difficult times.

In spite of several surgeries and countless other treatments, Brandon continued to live a full life. He persevered in his education and graduated from Texas State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Brandon also worked his way through college at the HEB on Brodie and William Cannon. He was in his first year of teaching kindergarten at Perez Elementary School in Austin, Texas.

Brandon is survived by his parents, Ron and Margo Ferguson, older brother Brent and sister-in-law Sarah, nephews Jaydon, Riley and Garrett, and his special friend Kaitlin Johnson. Brandon came from a large family with many aunts, uncles and cousins in Indiana, Los Angeles, California, and Plano, Texas. To have met Brandon was to be his friend, and he leaves behind countless friends across the country.

Brandon was always involved in the youth group at Christian Life Church and was on the volunteer youth staff for the past few years. Brandon was a superb example of Christian faith and character, and shared it with everyone he met. He was privileged to travel often, including youth missions trips to Panama, Costa Rica, and New York State, as well as several vacations with his family following his diagnosis.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seton Medical Center for making this last week of difficult time as easy and comfortable as possible. Brandon received excellent care from Doctors Shannon Cox and Demetrius Lukas and their staffs. The family would also like to thank the staffs at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, where Brandon received exceptionally professional and compassionate care.

The support we have received from our families, church friends, and business associates has been overwhelming. You are all appreciated and will be remembered forever. Brenda McKean, you’re amazing!!!

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 24, at 1:00 p.m., at Christian Life Church, 4700 Westgate Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Viewing and visitation will be at Christian Life Church from 9:30 – 12:00 Friday morning. There will be a private family graveside ceremony following the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brandon’s honor may be sent to any local Bank of America. Any questions about donations may be directed to Christian Life Church.

Arrangements under the direction of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin, TX.
